SUBÜ, through Education Industry, signed the International Academic Cooperation Agreement and the Mevlana Protocol with the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU).

On August 18, 2022, with the support of the educational company Education Industry, a meeting was held between representatives of the Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) and the administration of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU).


The SUBÜ delegation included Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Sinan Serdar Özkan and Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, as well as the Director of the Center for Applied Education and Research in the Field of Language Education (SADEM) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhat Küçük.


On the KazNARU side, the meeting was attended by the rector, faculty deans, scientists, lecturers, and representatives of the Education Industry company.

Sakarya University of Applied Sciences was established in 2018 by the decree of the President of the Republic of Turkey. Its structure includes 1 institute, 7 faculties (including the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies), 2 higher schools, and 15 vocational colleges. SUBÜ is one of two applied universities in Turkey, with more than 23,000 students and about 550 lecturers and researchers.

KazNARU maintains long-standing and strong relations with a number of Turkish universities, including Istanbul University, Ankara University, Suleyman Demirel University, Niğde University, and others. The university is open to productive cooperation in developing joint educational programs in land management, plant protection and quarantine, horticulture, as well as in organizing academic mobility for students and lecturers, and implementing various scientific projects.

During the meeting, KazNARU scientists presented the university’s activities, the latest scientific developments and research projects, spoke about successful integration into the global scientific and educational space, the growth of positions in international rankings, and the development of bilateral cooperation with Turkish universities.

Vice Rector of SUBÜ Sinan Serdar Özkan noted:

“We came with a targeted visit to the leading agricultural university of Kazakhstan to discuss cooperation opportunities. We know that KazNARU is rightfully considered the flagship of agricultural education not only in Kazakhstan but also in Central Asia and the CIS countries. We were interested in the innovative and technological achievements of KazNARU, including scientific and educational clusters, faculties, departments, research institutes, international research centers, and laboratories. All this creates unique conditions for training specialists through science and intensive production, as well as for conducting joint fundamental and applied research. We intend to expand cooperation and are ready for the exchange of experience in the scientific field.”

In addition, it was emphasized that according to the QS 2022 ranking, the university entered the top 401 in the field of Agriculture and Forestry for the first time and rose to 481st place among all universities in the world. The goal of KazNARU is to enter the top 400 best universities in the world according to QS.

Within the framework of the meeting, a “Cooperation Protocol” was signed between KazNARU and SUBÜ, which provides for joint research, the exchange of scientific articles and materials, the organization of student exchange programs, dual degree programs, symposia, congresses, joint scientific conferences, and seminars.

At the end of the visit, the SUBÜ delegation visited the Research Institute, the Microclonal Propagation Laboratory, the Kazakh-Japanese Innovation Center, and other departments, becoming acquainted with the scientific and innovative infrastructure of KazNARU.

The participants of the meeting expressed confidence that this event would become a strong impetus for the further development of cooperation between the universities and bring significant results for education and science in both countries. KazNARU is always ready to share its innovative developments, rich experience, and scientific base with leading universities of the world.
